Montgomery Apartment Fire Damage Repair

March 17, 2017 – Raleigh, North Carolina

You can hear the Fire Chief ordering the other Firefighters on the ground to begin evacuating the apartment building immediately. Fortunately, there was no major structural damage, and the next day, Extreme Team Bowen of the SERVPRO of Montgomery office got to work.

The video starts on the outside of the apartment building, revealing that the team has already boarded up the broken windows and other entry and exit points to the building. As the camera pans down, you can see where hoses were placed in through several windows and attached to exhaust fans. The set-up starts the process of removing smoke and soot particles from the air as well as dust and other contaminants.

We next see members of the Bowen crew cutting away drywall from the ceiling and walls. They are exposing the wall framing behind the residue covered drywall for inspectors to check the framing and any electrical and plumbing lines for damage.

Next, we see fans and air movers attached to the building HVAC system. The Bowen team uses this equipment and flexible tubing to force pressurized, dry air into the duct work. This method pushes particulates through the ducts and out of the heating and air system. It is collected into a catch bag (off-screen) in a SERVPRO vehicle where we haul it away and dispose of it according to State and Federal environmental regulations.

More video shows where fans are placed at exit points to draw particles and odors from the air and push them toward the collection hoses and, eventually, outside the apartment building. You can also see where SERVPRO personnel have stacked and are covering furniture to prevent accidental damage as they continue cleaning the structure. Also revealed are rooms where technicians already completed cleaning.
